65th CST AWARDS
CST – Commission Supérieure Technique de l’Image et du Son, is proud to present its award list for the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. Over the years, the award list has been expanded to highlight the importance of the creative and technical know-how of all cinema technicians. Two winners are rewarded for the quality of their technical skills in the service of the director’s vision.
CST AWARD FOR BEST ARTIST-TECHNICIAN
“The jury for the CST Award for Best Artist-Technician presents the 2023 award to Johnnie Burn, Sound Designer and Chief Sound Editor on Jonathan Glazer’s film “The Zone of Interest”. His sound design embodies, through the off-screen, the horror of genocide and questions our humanity,” announced the jury.
The jury of professionals was equally made up of : Chloé Cambournac – Head decorator, Simon Depardon – Sirector, Laëtitia Masson – Sirector and Screenwriter, and Jean Minondo – Sound engineer.
Since 2003, the award has been awarded by name to a technical artist for the quality of his or her work in the making of one of the films in the official competition.
CST AWARD FOR BEST YOUNG FEMALE FILM TECHNICIAN
Anne-Sophie Delseries, Chief Decorator of Anna Novion’s Le Théorème de Marguerite.
Born in 1985, Anne-Sophie Delseries graduated from La Fémis’ Set Department in 2014. After a few short films, she moved on to feature films in 2015 with Hubert Viel’s Les filles au Moyen Âge. Le Théorème de Marguerite is the first feature film selected at the Cannes Film Festival to which Anne-Sophie has contributed.
“The 2023 CST Award for best young female film technician Jury selected Anne-Sophie Delseries, head set designer for the film “Le Théorème de Marguerite”. Thanks to the delicacy of her work, Anne-Sophie Delseries succeeded in giving birth to a third character who is an essential part of the film’s narrative,” the jury emphasized.
