RECOGNIZING YOUNG TALENT

Louise Le Bouc Berger, Astrid Tonnellier, Evgenia Alexandrova, Ella Courvoisier, Armance Durix

Committed to diversity, the CST is studying the representation of women in French productions in the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival, and the trend for these positions is slightly improving!

Of the 69 positions examined in the 24 French films in the Official Selection, 32% are held by women, compared with 10% last year.

For the fourth year, five female post supervisors are competing for the CST Award for Best Young Female Film Technician:

  • Evgenia Alexandrova – Cinematographer for Noémie Merlant’s Les Femmes au Balcon (Séance de Minuit)
  • Ella Courvoisier – Head Decorator for Louise Courvoisier’s Vingt Dieux ! (Un Certain Regard)
  • Armance Durix – Head Sound Operator for Noémie Merlant’s Les Femmes au Balcon (Séance de Minuit)
  • Louise Le Bouc Berger – Head Decorator for Julien Colonna’s Le Royaume (Un Certain Regard)
  • Astrid Tonnellier – Head Decorator for Agathe Reidinger’s Diamant Brut (Official Competition)

These talented female technicians contribute to the presence of French films in the Official Selection, and set an example for future generations of technicians.

Created at the initiative of Claudine Nougaret, the CST Award for Best Young Female Film Technician is supported this year by photographer Dolorès Marat, and by its partners Publicis Cinemas, AFDAS and CIRCAD. The jury is made up of director Gérard Krawczyk and sound editor Nadine Muse.

The winner of the 2024 edition will be announced on May 25.
