The award has been part of the Cannes Film Festival’s award list since 1951, and now honors an artist-technician (director of photography, set designer, costume designer, editor, sound engineer, mixer, etc.) for the quality of his or her contribution to the creation of a film in the Festival’s official competition.

Through this international award, the CST wishes to highlight the importance of the creative and technical know-how of all technicians in the world of cinema, by choosing each year the one who has made the best artistic contribution.

The award is made up of two highlights:

• The announcement of the winner at the official closing ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival.
• The presentation of the CST Award for Best Artist-Technician in Paris in September 2021, at a gala evening organized by the CST.

In 2021, over 130 technicians will compete for the prize in 24 films in competition.
