CST Awards

CST – Commission Supérieure Technique de l’Image et du Son, is proud to present its prize list for the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. Over the years, the prize list has been expanded to highlight the importance of the creative and technical know-how of all cinema technicians. Two prize-winners are rewarded for the quality of their technical gestures in the service of the director’s vision.

Created in 1951, the “Grand Prix Technique”, which rewarded a body of work for its technical prowess, evolved into the “Prix Vulcain de l’artiste-technicien” in 2003, to be awarded by name to a technical artist. In 2019, it will become the CST Award for Best Artist-Technician.
The CST Award for best young female film technician promotes professional equality between men and women in the film industry, and affirms the CST’s determination to give visibility to the high-quality cinematographic work produced each year by young women technicians working in France. This is the second edition of the competition.

Since 2003, the award has been awarded by name to a technical artist for the quality of his or her work in the making of one of the films in the official competition.

The entire sound team for Ruben Östlund’s Triangle of Sadness.

The sound team consisted of Jonas Rudels and Jacob Ilgner – Sound Engineer – and Andreas Franck, Bent Holm – Sound Design & Re-recording Mix.

CST Award for Best Artist-Technician Jury presented the 2022 award to the entire sound team behind Ruben Östlund’s “Triangle of Sadness”. This award recognizes the creativity and staging of the sound worlds that help immerse viewers in the frenzy of this acidic, madcap satire“, announced the jury.

The jury of professionals was equally made up of : Evgenia Alexandrova – cinematographer and director, Sophie Chiabaut – sound engineer, Agnès Salson – film programmer, Bertrand Seitz – set designer, François Troukens – director and Fred Volhuer – CEO of Atlas V.

Marion Burger, Head Decorator on Léonor Serraille’s Un petit frère.

After graduating in textile design from Duperré in 2009, and studying at Danmarks Designskole in Copenhagen in 2010, she became fascinated by the cross-disciplinary nature of creative media and completed her studies in Design and Environments at the Sorbonne in 2011.

Since 2015, she has worked as head set designer on a dozen feature films.

With Léonor Serraille’s Un petit frère, for which she worked with finesse to recreate the settings of 80s Paris, she shows her ability to take on an ambitious project. At just 34 years of age, Marion has already had a remarkable career with a number of demanding films,” emphasized the jury.

The professional jury was made up of : Chloé Cambournac – chief decorator and Claude Garnier – director of photography.
